Foundation Stage

Welcome to Foundation Stage's Website page. Here you will find all you need to know about what your children are up to at school!

Our new topic is ' Why do Spiders eat flies?'

We have been on a mini-beast walk around the school fields. We found lots of ants, spiders, centipedes and a slug!

Special visitors

We had two very special visitors that came into our outdoor area! We had some new born baby lambs, they were very soft!

We had the chance to stroke the lambs and watch them being fed!

For our Mothers day cards we all painted a picture of a plant! We mixed the colours with thick brushes and painted on the flower with thin brushes. We added lots of detail!

Planting a seed

We have been looking at planting seeds. We all planted a bean and have been watching them grow!  We all helped to create Bawtry Mayflower Garden Centre. We painted signs, and made lots of different types of flowers. Outside we turned our playhouse into Percy's potting shed!

How Does That Building Stay Up?

To launch our new topic a digger came to visit. We all got a chance to sit inside it. The tyres were taller than us! The driver showed us how high the forklift at the front went into the sky.

We helped to make our own three little pigs role-play. We painted the houses, cut out the grass, and decorated the clouds. Now we are enjoying playing in it.

Mr Palmer brought some of his special building tools to show us how they worked.

Dear Parents and Carers, to encourage learning in the outdoor environment we will be sending out homework every half term.

Early Learning Goal- Understanding of the World

Children know about similarities and differences in relation to places, objects, materials and living things. They talk about the features of their own immediate environment and how environments might vary from one another. They make observations of animals and plants and explain why some things occur, and talk about changes.

Homework:- Can you become a nature detective? Can you walk around your garden/ local area and see if you can find any creatures or animals? You can draw pictures, take photos or make a list about the animals you have found! Please return to school by Friday the 17th of October.

Our new topic is all about pets and is titled Can I Have A Dog Yet?

The children in Foundation Stage have made a great start to the year and are settling in really well. Here's a few pictures of what they have been up to.

Reception Children:

Dear Parents,

Your child has brought home a book pack with a reading record. Reception children will begin by bringing the sound that they have learnt each day for you to practise with them at home. You can also use the reading record to let us know when you’ve shared a book or story at home with your child. Although your child may not bring a reading book home straight away, these other things are just as important at helping your child to build up their experience and love of reading.

Please return your book pack back to school every day so that staff can keep your child’s reading pack up to date.

Happy reading,

Foundation Stage Staff

Dear Parents,

The children’s first topic this year will be all about pets. The title is Can I Have a Dog Yet? In preparation for this topic we would like your child to bring to school a picture of any pets that they may have. If your child does not have a pet of their own, it may be the pet of another family member or a pet of a friend. This is to give the children the opportunity to talk about different types of pets.

Thank you for your cooperation, we look forward to finding out about all of your pets!
