Bawtry Mayflower Primary School is the only school in the market town of Bawtry. It was formed in September 1981 from two separate schools on the same site.
Most of our children come from Bawtry and Austerfield although an increasing number of children come to us from outside the area. The majority of children move to The Hayfield School after leaving us.
We work with our pyramid of schools, other schools and the Doncaster Teaching School Alliance on a range of school improvement issues including improving teaching and learning and the moderation of children's work.
At Bawtry Mayflower Primary School, we believe that it is the entitlement of every pupil to have access to a quality learning environment and effective teaching. We believe that good teaching, leading to a love of learning is the key to success at our school. We have a whole staff commitment to sustain high standards of teaching and have developed a common understanding of what constitutes the quality teaching and a quality learning environment we wish to see.
Within school we believe the quality of our teaching and interactions with children is the most significant factor in determining:
- pupils’ attitudes to lifelong learning;
- rate of pupil progress;
- standards of attainment;
- a “can do” culture.
Our PTA consists of an active and supportive parent group who organise fund raising events throughout the year. New parents are welcomed and encouraged either to join the committee or help out with events. Please see the PTA page for further information.

We offer a range of after school clubs that are run by school staff and outside providers. The clubs include: Tennis, Basketball, Football, Dance, gymnastics, Craft, and Choir. See our parent's page to find out what is on offer this term.
